The first historical references to this wine -made only in Romagna- go back to 1200 (Pier de Crescenzi). The story says that Galla Placida, daughter of the emperor TEODOSIO, drank it when she went to Romagna. This wine was labelled V.Q.P.R.D. for its history and for its oranoleptic charachteristics. The Albana variety, also called sugar beet for its high concentration of sugar, it is at its best in the DOLCE and PASSITO varieties. The grapes were harvested the 10th of November, when they were mouldy. The must, after a cold cleaning, is vinificated and selected sways are inoculated.
